This
is a superb little art nouveau style log burner by the
famous French company Pied Selle . It dates from
sometime in the 1920's. It is in lovely condition, as
you will see from the photos. The enamel is in
excellent condition and is a beautiful mid blue
majolica enamel.
It's modest size means that it will fit quite well
into any moderately sized fireplace. It's look is mid
way between art nouveau and arts & crafts which is
quite popular, and will enhance any room in your home.
When you lift the enamelled lid there is a hotplate
which is always handy! Wood is loaded through the side
door which makes this stove highly usable.
It benefits from a full "body off" restoration, with a
new stainless steel firebox, new cast iron top plate,
new deflector plate fitted, new firebrick, and the
front viewing window, the corner uprights, and door
furniture have been bright nickelled as per factory
original. The
mica windows have been replaced with top quality
Brazilian mica and will give years of use if
looked after. There are some chips to
the enamel, commensurate with age and use.
This is indeed a rare opportunity for art nouveau/arts
& crafts lovers to own a stunning, living
breathing, original piece of furniture, that can heat
your home and keep your food warm at the same
time!
